Urbandale Woman Claims Haggling Prompted Garage Sale Assault
An Urbandale woman told police that she was assaulted by the seller because she was trying to bargain on price.

A 58-year-old Urbandale woman called police last month, saying that she was assaulted because she was haggling over price at a garage sale.
The woman told police she was trying to bargain for $400 in clothing with the 66-year-old man who was having the sale in the 3200 block of Mary Lynn Drive, when he became angry and grabbed her by the arm.
When police went to interview the man, he told a different story.

He told police that the woman wanted to buy the clothing for a ridiculously low price, which he refused. However, he said she would not accept that he would not sell the clothing to her and kept insisting that he load it into her car.
Furthermore, the man said the woman told him she didn't have any money with her at the time.

He denied grabbing her by the arm, although he said he did touch her arm to try to usher her to her car.Â
The report notes that the woman wanted the police officer to go to the man's home and tell him he was asking too much for the clothing.
