Over a two-week period, students were asked to donate food items for the school's annual Pay It Forward event. A goal was set of 2,500 food items, enough to feed 75 families for one month.

A few years ago, the Webster PTO started a tradition of having an annual "Pay It Forward" day to give students at Webster a chance to experience helping others.

The first year, students all made cards for children receiving services from ChildServe. The last two years, they have collected items for the Urbandale Food Pantry.

This year's theme was "Cloudy With A Chance of Meeting Our Goal."  The PTO Pay It Forward Committee made a cute and clever video showing the Urbandale Food Pantry and explaining how they work and who they help.

Then students were given a goal of collecting 2,500 food items.  Each classroom was given its own specific item to collect and a numerical goal.

Student council co-presidents, Brook Heinen and Elle Brownell gave updates on progress throughout a two-week collection period, playing the parts of Flint Lockwood and Sammy Sparks, characters from the movie, "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs", about an inventor who finds a way to make it rain down food.

Thanks to the generosity of the families at Webster Elementary, we surpassed our goal.
