Windows Smashed, Purses Stolen Outside Urbandale Planet Fitness

Someone went on a spree in the parking lot at one night last week, breaking out windows of vehicles and stealing the purses of women who were inside the fitness center.

The thief struck between 9 and 10:30 p.m. on June 27, according to police reports.

Windows to a Honda Acura, Honda Odessey and Jeep Liberty all parked outside Planet Fitness were smashed and purses were stolen from each vehicle, according to Lt. Rob Johansen.

The women reported cash and credit and debit cards, jewelry, wallets and purses and a digital camera were stolen.

"That's a lot of purses stolen in one shot here," said Lt. Johansen. "You know what the moral of the story is here? Don't leave your purse in the car."
