Art Show Success
Residents show off their wonderful work at The Village at Legacy Pointe retirement community.
An art show at The Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee showcased ten residents’ work on May 16. More than 90 people came through the exhibit during the two hours it was open.
“We have so many talented individuals living here, it was an excellent opportunity to showcase their works,” said Amy Barth, Executive Director at The Village at Legacy Pointe.

- Ray Seegers, ceramic tile made in Portugal inspired by his faith
- Betty Lienemann’s, paintings
- Paul Farris, woodworking, a bench and cane
- Anna Marie Wise, cross stitching, Cyclone Power was inspired by her love for the ISU cyclones
- Lee Kopper, sewing, doll clothes, her favorite was titled Cubette, and was created after the Cubs won the World Series
- Carol Rutledge, woodworking, small pieces carved mostly of walnut, was taught by her father
- Kenneth Perin, woodworking, his lighthouse is his favorite
- Kay Rhoten, painting, which she ventured into as part of a community group
- Barb Ross, painting, fell in love with it after picking up a brush one day

The works, all created by residents at The Village at Legacy Pointe will be submitted to be featured in a national Expressions calendar through Watermark Retirement Communities.

- Betty Lienemann, resident at The Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee, and her paintings. She has no formal training, but said she just gets lost in her paintings.
- Carol Rutledge, resident at The Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee, with her woodworking art made mostly of walnut. Her father taught her about woodworking and she has really perfected her skills.
