Chamber Leaders Bet Bingo Chips on the 'Business' End of a Cow
Within minutes of the game, a cow gives its business to a bank at the Third Annual Cow Patty Business Bingo, Thursday, July 18.
Just another day in Iowa. Business leaders stand around eating root beer floats and waiting for a cow to poop.
At exactly 4:05 p.m. Thursday, a cow gave its business to square G3, sponsored by Charter Bank, at the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce's third annual Cow Patty Business Bingo.Â
The Waukee Chamber of Commerce, hosted the event where 57 different businesses each had a square on a fenced-in area of grass where there were two cows. Whatever square the cow left its mark on was the winner of an ad valued at $650 in the Chamber's official directory.
As people waited and watched the cows, root beer floats were being eaten. Melinda Behn, Waukee Chamber Director, was giving them out and had on her sparkly cowboy boots.Â
"We are grateful for Brewer Family Farms, who brought the cows and supported the event for the past three years," Behn said. "We are thankful for Gilcrest/Jewett Lumber Company, Inc. and the businesses who sponsored the event. Congratulations to Greg Grote and Charter Bank."
Last year, State Savings Bank won. Bryan Rowland, a commercial lender for the bank, said it's a good way for businesses in the community to get some advertising for a low cost.Â
"It's been a lot of fun," Rowland said. "It's an event that demonstrates how businesses are involved in the community."
There were 57 businesses playing the Cow Patty Bingo.Â
