Dallas County Jail Inmate Dies in Cell
An autopsy will determine the cause of death in the case, according to the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

An inmate of the Dallas County Jail died Friday afternoon in his cell, according to a news release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
Dallas County Sheriff’s officers found inmate Leroy McKinney Jr., 42, unresponsive in his jail cell at about 1 p.m. Friday, the release said. All attempts to revive McKinney were unsuccessful.
McKinney was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny, where an autopsy is scheduled for Saturday, July 27.Â

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, with assistance from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, is continuing its investigation; however, no foul play is suspected at this time, the release said.Â
