Join the Parkinson's Disease Foundation (PDF) for an online seminar in recognition of November as National Family Caregivers Month
WHAT: How can care partners help loved ones living with Parkinson’s disease to cope with cognitive changes? Find out by joining “Cognitive Issues: Advice for Parkinson’s Care Partners,” the second PD ExpertBriefing in a series of six online seminars hosted by the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF). In recognition of November as National Family Caregivers Month, the free seminar will provide strategies for coping with cognitive changes in Parkinson’s disease. Qualifying health professionals have the opportunity to apply for free continuing education credits.
WHO: The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation® (PDF®) supports the scientific research and ideas that will improve the lives and futures of people who are touched by Parkinson’s disease. Since its founding in 1957, PDF has invested more than $157 million in research, education and advocacy programs. This PDF PD ExpertBriefing will be presented by Rebecca Gilbert, M.D., Ph.D., Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology, NYU Langone Medical Center and NYU Langone Parkinson’s & Movement Disorders Center, New York, NY.
WHY: As many as one million Americans live with Parkinson’s disease, a chronic and progressive movement disorder for which there is no cure. During the progression of the disease, people living with Parkinson’s disease may experience some degree of cognitive change – ranging from mild but bothersome symptoms such as difficulty remembering words or multitasking, to those that are more serious, such as dementia. These changes can be especially difficult for people with Parkinson’s disease and their primary care partners. This seminar will provide practical tips to help care partners and people with Parkinson’s to cope with cognitive issues and improve day-to-day life with the disease.
