Police: Burglary Report Leads to Forgery, Assault and Criminal Mischief Charges for Waukee Man
Benjamin Lee Husted, 31, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses after he allegedly stole a checkbook from a vehicle parked on Northeast Darmoor Drive.

A September evening turned ugly for one Waukee man.
On Sept. 10, Waukee police arrested and charged Benjamin Lee Husted, 31, of Waukee with third-degree burglary to a vehicle.
Husted allegedly took a checkbook from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Northeast Dartmoor Drive. Later that evening, Husted was apprehended in the 200 block of Southeast Laurel Drive as he was attempting to write checks on the account, according to police reports.

As he was being arrested, police say Husted began throwing things and hitting bystanders. Officers determined that he was intoxicated.
In addition to burglary, Husted was charged with public intoxication, forgery, assault with injury and criminal mischief. He was taken to an area hospital for evaluation before being transported to Dallas County Jail, where he is being held without bond.

The arrest inquiry on the Dallas County Jail's website also lists Husted in violation of probation for the theft charge.
