Vision Soccer Academy Spring Registration is OPEN

2020-2021 5U-6U Recreational
Recreational is a team/league based program for players born between January 1st, 2015 and December 31st, 2016.

Registration Fees: $85 through February 28th; $110 after February 28th. Team formation process will occur shortly after February 28th and then only limited registration spots will be available.

Practice/Game Times:
5U (kids born in 2016) - 8:45 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. on Saturdays
6U (kids born in 2015) - 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. on Saturdays

Spring Dates (tentative as of 12/3/2020):
First Weekend of Games is April 10
Last Weekend of Games is May 22
Reschedules will finish up by June 5
Memorial Day Weekend will not be used for reschedules

Description: The first half of each session is devoted to age-appropriate soccer activities (practice), the second half is dedicated to playing a game. The volunteer coaches are briefed on the activities they conduct with their teams prior to each session by VSA's Director of Recreation. Players go directly to their assigned fields and meet with their coach to practice the activities. Once the 20 minutes of practice concludes, the players will participate in a game.

2020-2021 7U-8U Recreational
The 7U/8U Recreational Program is a team/league based program for players born between Jan 1st, 2013 and Dec 31st, 2014.

Registration Fees: $109 through February 28th; $134 after February 28th. Team formation process will occur shortly after February 28th and then only limited registration spots will be available.

Game Times: Games are usually held on Saturdays between 11:30am and 4:30pm, some Thursday night games are occasionally scheduled.

Description: Volunteer coaches conduct practice once a week at a local green space with their team and then games are played on Saturdays (7 games total) in Waukee, Adel, and Grimes. Every 7U/8U team will have a partner team in which they will conduct practices with and can utilize for guest players for games. Players will also receive 2 practices per season coached by VSA's Director of Recreation, Bre Haberl-Kellogg, and are eligible for other recreational clinics/events.

Due to league rostering rules, we cannot accept team formation requests. We roster players based off the month they were born and school they attend. Teams will stay the same from fall to spring and from 7U to 8U as long as all returning players register prior to the February 28th deadline.

1. Players born January through June will typically be placed in an older division and players born July through December will typically be placed in a younger division.
2. Players born in June and July may be placed in the older or younger division depending on numbers.
3. The schools we serve include but are not limited to Brookview, Des Moines Christian, Eason, Grant Ragan, Maple Grove, Radiant, Shuler, St. Francis, Walnut Hills, Waukee, and Woodland Hills.
4. There is a max roster size of 7 players per team.

The 9U/10U Recreational Program is a team/league based program for players born between January 1st, 2010 and Dec 31st, 2011.

Registration Fees: $109 through February 15; $134 after February 15. Team formation process will occur shortly after February 15 and then only limited registration spots will be available.

Game Times:
9U/10U Girls teams generally play on Saturdays. Some Sundays may be used for overflow.
9U/10U Boys teams generally play on Sunday afternoons. Some Saturdays may be used for overflow.
They play teams in the Des Moines area and surrounding communities for away games.

2020 - 2021 9U-10U Academy
The 9U/10U Academy Program is a team/league-based program for players born between Jan 1st, 2011 and Dec 31st, 2012.

Registration Fees: $295 - through February 15th $320 - after February 15th ($25 late fee)

Description: Players will train twice a week with licensed parent volunteers and VSA Staff coaches under a season long curriculum that is age specific. Coaches in the Academy Program have (or are in the process of obtaining) a minimum of an USSF Grassroots 7v7 License. Many of VSA's Academy Coaches have a higher level of licensing. Players are placed on balanced teams to compete against other Academy club teams in league play. Rosters change from season to season, but the age group will always train together. The Academy Program is training focused with the development of the individual player in mind. There are no tryouts for the Academy Program, however the program is intended to be a higher level of play and commitment than recreation.

Practice Times: Academy Players train twice a week at the VSA complex - normally on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Virtual Training: If the situation merits and we are unable to train in person the Academy will continue to train virtually until the restrictions are lifted or that specific season comes to an end. VSA understands that virtual training is not like in-person training however we do feel that the players can receive the same value, which is laid out below:

League Play: Academy teams participate in league play against other Academy club teams in the Des Moines area and surrounding communities. League games are generally played on Saturdays with an occasional Sunday. Home games are played at the VSA Timberline Soccer Complex.

The Central Iowa Academy Festival is covered by the program registration. All other festivals/tournaments are optional and invoiced out separately. Festivals and Tournament may have games on Saturdays, Sundays, or both days.

The 11U through 19U Recreational Program is a team/league based program for players born between January 1st, 2002 and Dec 31st, 2010.

Registration Fees: $115 before the February 15th registration deadline; $140 after registration deadline of February 15th

Spring Dates (tentative as of 12/3/2020):
First Weekend of Games is April 10
Last Weekend of Games is May 22
Reschedules will finish up by June 5
Memorial Day Weekend will not be used for reschedules

Game Times (these are general and are up to the league as they schedule):
11U - 12U: Primary Sunday afternoons starting at 1pm (possible Saturday overflow)
13U - 14U: Primary Saturday afternoons (possible Sunday afternoon overflow)
15U and older: Primary Sunday afternoons starting at 1pm (possible Saturday overflow)

These times and days are determined by ISA who schedules the league and could change.

Practice Times:
Practices are held 1 to 2 times a week and are scheduled by the volunteer coach. Days and times are determined by the volunteer coach.

For 11U and up teams, we do our best to maintain whole age groups or even 2 year age groups. Depending on the numbers sometimes we combine age groups to create teams. In the ISA Central Level 3 League we can also register small sided teams where 13U and up teams can play 7 v 7. The number of players on a roster and the way they are grouped is all dependent on the number of players that register in each age group.

Start your child out right with MIGHTY TIKES! For all players 3 years old who would like to get a taste of soccer by attending 35 minutes sessions for 6 weeks to gain motor and social skills as well as a fundamental relationship with the ball. There are four seasons of the program during a calendar year; fall, winter (2 sessions), spring and summer. Sessions will be conducted by our energetic staff who are excited to work with players who are getting their first soccer experience. What's Included? Get Your Kicks at Grasskickers!For all players born in 2016 and 2015 (5U and 6U) who would like to devote 45 minutes a week to learn new fundamental soccer skills while enhancing their appreciation for the sport. There are four seasons of the program during a calendar year; fall, winter (2 sessions), spring, and summer. Sessions entails the supervision of experienced coaching staff as well as older VSA Select players. Staff are given a skill specific lesson plan and will engage the players in activities that will will allow the players to demonstrate skill competency. The program is an affordable opportunity that will introduce your child to soccer in a fun & positive environment.What’s Included? Training sessions are 45 minutes in length in which the last 10 to 15 minutes will be utilized for small sided play.

2020-2021 PRE-Academy (7U - 10U)
All about PRECISION / REPETITION / EXCELLENCE!

The VSA PRE-Academy program is a supplemental program for recreational 7Us through 10Us who are participating in recreational programming. PRE-Academy players receive one training a week for 6 weeks. The training emphasizes advanced dribbling skills, specifically 1v1 attacking skills. Players will gain knowledge and experience that will help them prepare for VSA's Academy program. Sessions are conducted by VSA's paid staff coaches who are educated to execute a specific curriculum. The last 15 minutes of the sessions will be dedicated to small sided games. Seasons & Training: VSA PRE-Academy players are grouped into training groups with other players similar in age and they participate in training sessions conducted by VSA coaching staff. There are 6 training sessions per season and the program operates during the fall, winter, spring and summer. Training sessions during the fall and spring seasons are typically 60 minutes in length. Spring, Summer, and Fall: Timberline Soccer Complex – Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Winter: Indoors on Saturdays usually early to late afternoon.
