Waukee Area Arts Council to Provide Art Activities at Waukee Fest 2012

The Waukee Area Arts Council will provide a tent full of free art activities for kids at Saturday's Waukee Fest 2012 celebration.

The will provide free art activities for children on Saturday at on the downtown Triangle.

At the Council's tent, kids can make corn husk dolls, paint marbles, build a train, bubble paint, draw with coal and design their own store front. All the activities follow the Council's theme of "Imagine...Create...Experience."

Karen Dluhos, president of the Waukee Area Arts Council, said the Council chose the theme as a way to encourage kids to use explore their creative ideas.

“The tent is called 'Imagine…Create…Experience…' because children can use their imagination then create their artwork and experience some entertainment all free at our tent,” she said. “We tried to follow the theme of Waukee Fest and create a few activities that would Celebrate the Past.”

In addition to the activities tent, the Council will also be providing entertainment on a free stage. The line-up includes:

11:30 – 12:15 - Michael Hope, singer/songwriter

12:15 to 1:15 - Lee Cole, magician

1:30 – 2:30 - Cultural Casualty

2:45 – 3:45 - Clinton Garlock, acoustic guitar
