Waukee Graduate Hits First Two Home Runs of College Softball Career
The 2012 graduate plays softball for Luther College in Decorah.

Miranda McCay, a 2012 graduate of Waukee Community High School, hit the first two home runs of her Luther career on back-to-back days on April 7-8.
McCay, a freshman, had a huge game in Luther’s 8-1 victory over Coe College in game two of the Iowa Conference doubleheader in Cedar Rapids on April 7. In this game, McCay went 3-for-4 and drove in six runs. McCay drove in a run with a double in the second, and one in the seventh with a single. Sandwiched in the middle was her first career home run that was a grand slam to left field.

In Luther’s doubleheader the next day (April 8) at home against Wartburg College, McCay ended the second game with a three-run home run to left field, securing a 10-0 victory in five innings. McCay was 2-for-3 with four RBI in this game and ended the day going 5-for-6 with 5 RBI.
Twenty games into the season, McCay is batting .462 with 15 RBI. She leads the team with a .885 slugging percentage.

The nationally ranked No. 9 Norse, are currently 16-4 overall and 3-1 in the Iowa Conference. They are scheduled to play again on Friday, April 13 when they will host University of Dubuque at 3:00 p.m.
McCay is the daughter of Keith and Brenda McCay of Waukee.Â
