Waukee Public Library Seeks Final Approval of Ori Addition Tonight at City Hall

The Waukee Public Library's Board of Trustees and the Waukee City Council will meet tonight at 6 p.m. at Waukee City Hall to approve the plans for a $700,000 addition of a meeting room.

The will come one step closer to expanding tonight when the Library's Board of Trustees meets with the Waukee City Council to get final approval on plans for an addition dedicated to the memory of one Shuler Coal Mine family.

Last September, the Waukee Public Library was bequeathed a gift estimated at between $500,000 and $700,000 from Hiram Ori's estate. Ori, a former resident of Waukee and Shuler Coal Mine worker, willed the money to the library to build a meeting room in honor of his late parents, Ernest and Casimira Ori.

Earlier this year, Surber, the Board of Trustees and a member of the Ori family started hashing out what the Library needed and what the gift could provide in terms of meeting space. Plans have been drawn up and could received final approval tonight.
