Waukee Public Library to Host Senate District 22 Candidate Forum
The Waukee Public Library will host a forum for the two candidates running for the Iowa Senate District 22 on Dec. 1.
The Waukee Public Library will host a Candidates' Forum on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m..
The forum will feature the two candidates running in the race for Iowa Senate District 22 - Democrat Desmund Adams and Republican Charles Schneider, both from West Des Moines.
Adams and Schneider will face one another in the special election to fill the vacant seat on Dec. 11.

Lucas Casey will serve as forum moderator. Casey is the Assistant to the President and Adjunct Lecturer in Political Science at Grand View University. He holds a master’s degree in public administration and policy from Drake University and is active in the community. Casey resides in the West Des Moines portion of Iowa’s 22nd Senate District.
“As part of our mission, the Waukee Public Library endeavors to inform our community and is dedicated to promoting the free exchange of ideas," said Brian Hughes, president of the Waukee Public Library board of directors. "We can't think of a better way to help accomplish this mission than to host this candidate forum."

The format will begin with an introduction of the candidates. Each candidate will then be given two minutes to answer questions posed by the moderator. The questions will be culled from submissions by the public and sent in to the Waukee Public Library.
Light refreshments will be served at the free event open to the public.
The Waukee Public Library serves the residents of Waukee, Dallas County, and western Polk County. By offering current technology, several meeting spaces, a collection of more than 48,000 items, and programming for all ages the library promotes life-long learning opportunities and free access to information.
