Waukee retirement community to help homeless stay warm through the winter

The Village at Legacy Pointe will be holding a blanket drive for homeless in Waukee and surrounding communities Oct. 19 through 30.

Few look forward to the bitter cold of Iowa winters, but for those without a home, this time can be especially difficult. To help, The Village at Legacy Pointe will be holding a blanket drive for homeless in Waukee and surrounding communities Oct. 19 through 30.

The public, local businesses, family and friends of residents are all encouraged to bring blankets for donation. In addition to collecting blankets from the community, residents of The Village at Legacy Pointe will be making tied fleece blankets to donate.

“With winter approaching, it’s an important time to give to those in need, and I’m so proud of our residents and staff for all their hard work to help keep people warm through the winter,” said Tammy Olson, Executive Director at The Village at Legacy Pointe.
