Waukee Salutes Citizen of the Year Cyndi Craigmile: PHOTOS

The civic volunteer and accountant says Waukee's strength is its people.

During the 20 years she's lived in Waukee Cyndi Craigmile has served as treasurer of Waukee United Methodist Church, helped turn T-shirts into diapers for use in Haitian orphanages, served on the Waukee Community Schools Foundation, and raised money for band uniforms.

Mayor Bill Peard said of her selection, "It is clear that Cyndi loves her community, and it is equally clear that many people, not just Waukee citizens, have benefitted from her giving spirit. I can't think of a better person for the award this year."

The community turned out Tuesday night to honor her for her contributions to the city.

As Citizen of the Year, Craigmile will be recognized by riding in Waukee's 4th of July and Waukee Fest parades.
