Waukee School Board Approves Boundary Changes at Monday Meeting
The Waukee Board of Education approved the proposed boundary changes for the 2013-14 school year, among other action items.
Well, it's a done deal now.Â
Boundary changes affecting hundreds of students in the Waukee school district were approved by the Waukee school board Monday night at its regular meeting.Â
At the initial Oct. 22 meeting of the board, the Elementary Boundary Committee shared its attendance recommendation for the 2013-14 school year. Among them, the suggestion that more than 300 current students be moved to the new Woodland Hills Elementary in West Des Moines.

Despite many parents upset with the changes, no one showed up to the Monday night meeting to oppose the boundary changes. The changes passed with only one objection. Board member Chuck VanDevander was opposed.
Woodland Hills is expected to open at 1120 S. 95th St. in West Des Moines by the fall of 2013.
