Since the school year began, 48 seniors have recorded at least 175 hours of volunteer service as part of the Silver Cord program.

WAUKEE, IA — The Silver Cord Program at Waukee High School, created to encourage students to participate in volunteerism and service within the community, this week recognized students who achieved benchmark levels of volunteerism.
The district reported in a news release that there are 768 students participating in the Waukee High School Silver Cord Program and they collectively achieved more than 14,640 approved volunteer hours during the first term of the school year.
Students who volunteer at least 175 hours by April 30 during their senior year also will be honored with a silver cord to wear at the graduation ceremony, in addition to recognition at the end of each term.
