Discount grocery store, Aldi, is planning to open shop in West Des Moines.
Aldi purchased land at 6050 Mills Civic Parkway with the intent of building a 16,639-square-foot supermarket, and the plans were approved by the city of West Des Moines, the Des Moines Register reports.
Aldi offers discount prices and non-mainstream brands. The chain has more than 1,200 stores in 32 states and is in a period of expansion that includes launching stores in southern California. Kansas had been Aldi's western most location.Â
"Our shoppers know better than to pay extra at stores where baggers bag groceries and employees chase carts in the parking lot. They know where to buy select brands that can help them save up to 50% over supermarket prices. They know to shop at ALDI," the pitch on the website states.
