DM Tango Club to Host Milonga Nada de Lujo Dance in West Des Moines on January 9

Introduction to tango included with event

Perhaps you think tango means always getting spiffed up, putting on your best airs and holding a rose in your mouth while dancing?
Not necessarily. Tango is actually a casual social dance.
The Des Moines Tango Club is hosting a very informal dance, the Milonga Nada de Lujo—meaning the “Nothing Fancy” social dance at the Madhat Ballroom, 1751 28th Street, West Des Moines, Iowa, from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, January 9, 2016.
Dancers of all experience levels are welcome, noted Regina O’Shea, the director of Des Moines Tango. “Don’t be shy if you’re new to tango,” she said. “This party is low-key.”
Plans call for an introduction to tango dance at 8 p.m. Open tango dancing will begin at 9 p.m. The cost is $5.00 per person.
To get to the Madhat Ballroom in West Des Moines, take Interstate-235 to the 22nd Street interchange (Exit 2). Go north on 22nd Street to Westown Parkway. Go west on Westown Parkway to 28th Street. Go north on 28th Street to the strip mall on the east side of 28th Street opposite Clock Tower Square and the Waterfront Seafood Market. The Madhat Ballroom is in the southern part of the strip mall complex, beyond the Perkup Café.
