An Evening of Sacred Jazz to take place on October 26 in Clive
Jazz concert to begin 2015-16 fine arts series at Faith Lutheran Church
Hear the uniquely American versions of sacred music and the uniquely American genre of jazz performed in a uniquely American relationship at Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Avenue, Clive, Iowa at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 26.
The concert will feature great vocalists, along with a wonderful jazz quartet of piano, bass, drums and sax, performing sacred numbers by jazz legend Duke Ellington and the hymn Precious Lord, Take My Hand by the Reverend Thomas Dorsey. A free-will offering will be taken.
To get to Faith Lutheran Church, located in the western part of the Des Moines, Iowa area, take Interstate-235 to the Valley West Drive exit. Go north on Valley West Drive to University Avenue, then go west. Faith Lutheran Church is on the north side of University Avenue by the Clive water tower.
The concert marks the first performance in the 28th season for Soli deo Musica, the fine arts ministry of Faith Lutheran Church. Other performances include Gloria!, a performance of Advent and Christmas music, scheduled for the afternoon of December 20; the Luther College Symphony Orchestra, which will perform on the evening of January 29, 2016; and a concert of Mozart and Hassler to conclude the season next April.
