Focus Groups Will Help West Des Moines Schools Plan Facility Needs Over Next 10 Years

Parents, students and staff in the West Des Moines school district can attend one of six focus groups to offer input on facility planning.

WEST DES MOINES, IA — Focus groups made up students, families and employees of the West Des Moines school district will meet next month to create a framework for the district's facility planning over the next decade, school officials said this week. The school board is seeking members to participate in one of six sessions scheduled Nov. 14-16.

District leaders want input from all stakeholders to lay the groundwork for the development of a 10-Year Facilities Plan, a news release from the district said. Topics include preschool needs, whether to move sixth-graders out of elementary buildings, project-based learning environments, and other key initiatives.

The resulting framework is scheduled to be presented to the school board in early January.
