Record Store Owner To Be Tried For Child Pornography

Federal authorities want to speak to anyone who believes they might have been recorded in a changing room or restroom at Wayback Records.

WEST DES MOINES, IA — The owner of a collectible records store in Valley Junction was detained Tuesday in advance of his trial on a charge that he attempted production of child pornography. Now authorities want to know whether anyone using a dressing room or restroom at the store believes they also were recorded.

Robert Kuhn, 48, owner of Wayback Records was indicted last month and ordered detained in preparation for trial, WHO-TV reported. Authorities said in a hearing Tuesday that in August an employee at Kuhn’s store, who was a minor, found a hidden video camera in the bathroom. Kuhn had asked her to use the restroom try on clothing that was part of the store's inventory, according to WHO. Authorities also reportedly discovered videos of other females undressing when they confiscated the camera.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's division of Homeland Security Investigations has requested that anyone who feels victimized or who may have used the store's dressing room or restroom and believes they were recorded disrobing to call Special Agent Aaron Simon at 515-323-2425.

If convicted on the federal charge, Kuhn faces up for 30 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, and listing on the sex offender registry.
