West Des Moines Police Teach Women To Fight Back
West Des Moines police will teach women to learn dangers of assault and defend themselves in a four-night course in October.

WEST DES MOINES, IA. -- Over four nights in October the West Des Moines Police Department will teach women how to be proactive in the event of a physical assault and, more importantly, how to avoid dangerous situations.
The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) course starts with a focus on awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance. Latter classes will involve hands-on defense training.
Certified RAD instructors lead the course and will offer "simple and effective tactics," a news release about the class said. "RAD provides realistic defense techniques to provide women with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance."
