What Will it Cost to Register West Des Moines Students?

Basic registration fees are $50, $60 and $80 for elementary, middle school and high school students, respectively. But there are other costs, depending on students' activities.

School starts Aug. 20 for students in the West Des Moines Community School District.

Here’s a list of fees:

Half-day kindergarten: $25 per year

Full-day kindergarten through sixth grade: $50 per year

Grades 7-8: $60 per year

Repair and Replacement Fees

Book rebinding: actual cost of repairs

Lost book or paperback: original cost

Other Fees

Driver education: $345

Musical instrument rental (strings/band): $65 per year or $33 per semester

Musical instrument rental (percussion): $50 per year or $25 per semester

Student activity ticket, grades 9-12 (optional): $55 per year

Insufficient check charges $30 (subject to current bank overdraft charges)

Lunch Prices with Milk

Elementary school: $2.70

Junior high: $2.80

High school: $2.80

Adults: $3.35

Breakfast Prices

Breakfasts are not available in all schools.

Elementary school: $1.70

Junior high: $1.80

High school: $1.80

Adults: $2

Free and reduced lunches are available to students whose families meet income eligibility  requirements.

Transportation Fees

Annual round trip (non-refundable): $470

Annual one-way trip: $245

Quarterly round trip pass: $118

Quarterly one-way trip: $62
