New Yoga Studio Reopens in Overland Park Under New Ownership
Kansas' First YogaSix Reopens Amid the Pandemic, Offering Fresh Perspective on Yoga

YogaSix, a modern fitness boutique offering a fresh perspective on one of the world’s oldest practices, just reopened its first Kansas City location in Overland Park in the Fountains Shopping Center at 6555 W. 119th Street. Originally opening under new ownership in December, YogaSix closed due to COVID-19 sanctions in March.
A variety of yoga classes are offered at YogaSix to encompass everything from deep stretching to stress relief to high intensity training. Offering six core formats – Y6 101, Y6 Restore, Y6 Slow Flow, Y6 Hot, Y6 Power and Y6 Sculpt & Flow – each class caters to every fitness level and strengthens the mind-body connection.
YogaSix Overland Park is owned and operated by Jody Capdeboscq, who has a background in corporate marketing and was a stay at home mom for almost 10 years. Four years ago, she decided to take her passion for wellness to the next level and become certified to teach group fitness. Capdeboscq taught boot camp at YogaSix and then went on to teach yoga after completing her 200-hour yoga teacher training at YogaSix in St. Louis, MO. Seeing an opening for a YogaSix studio in Overland Park, Jody became the new owner in December and plans on opening three new studios in Kansas City.

“We’re excited to give Overland Park residents a fresh yoga experience and utilize our own methods and classes that are welcoming to every person and fitness level,” said Jody. “Yoga is one of the most popular workouts because of the physical, mental and spiritual benefits, and I can’t wait to share the YogaSix experience and introduce myself to the community.”
The new studio joins a busy health and wellness scene in Kansas City, but plans to make an impression with its unique version of yoga. Particularly notable about YogaSix is its use of modern language instead of Sanskrit to describe its practice, as the traditional language can be intimidating and baffling to newcomers. The studio provides class options for everybody, from beginners seeking a recovery to more advanced students. YogaSix wants to introduce yoga in a modern practice that allows all levels to feel welcome. New students are always greeted by a wellness advisor when they enter the studio to educate and empower them before they engage in a YogaSix experience.

Hands-on adjustments by instructors have been eliminated and class sizes are reduced.
