Tallgrass Creek Celebrates its 10th Anniversary of Providing Vibrant Retirement Living
Multi-Faceted Campus Expansion is Now Underway

OVERLAND PARK, KS (October 10, 2017) -- Tallgrass Creek, Erickson Living's community in Overland Park, KS, this week is celebrating its 10th anniversary of providing vibrant retirement living.
“We are celebrating Tallgrass Creek’s unique ability to offer opportunities for older adults to be part of a community that values an independent lifestyle supported by lifelong learning, superior health and wellness programs, a wide range of socialization venues, and the development of new friendships,” said Executive Director Jean Landreville.
Tallgrass Creek’s anniversary coincides with multi-faceted expansion of the community. The new 108-apartment home Hummingbird Square residence building opened this month with 85 percent of it already reserved. It will be 80 percent occupied by year’s end. In addition, construction of the new 78-apartment home Goldfinch Lane residence building is underway with 25 percent of it already pre-reserved. This building will open next summer.

Tallgrass Creek today has more than 300 residents and is operating at a 99 percent occupancy, which exceeds industry standards. Seventy percent of Tallgrass Creek’s residents moved from Kansas while 30 percent moved from Missouri and other out-of-state locales.
“What makes Tallgrass Creek different is the people,” said Sales Director Blake Marshall. “From our dedicated employees to the residents that call Tallgrass Creek home, it is the sense of community and belonging that makes our community so special.” Throughout its history, the community has achieved exceptional results in customer service, resident satisfaction and employee engagement, he said.

The community’s health plan, Erickson Advantage, last year received a Canter for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Medicare Advantage health plan rating of 5 Stars for Part C and 5 Stars for Part D. It was also named Best Medicare Advantage Plan by U.S. News and World Report last year.
Since 2007 more than $131,000 has been awarded to student workers from Tallgrass Creek’s Student Scholarship Fund. There were 24 students who received scholarships this year. The community today has nearly 300 full and part-time employees.
Tallgrass Creek recently debuted its new Signature Dining program, which features fresh, made-to-order, resident-focused menu offerings. In addition, Milo's Cafe & Market, which is named in honor of Milo Shaffer, the first Tallgrass Creek resident, just opened for business for residents and employees. Appetizers, hot and cold sandwiches, grab & go Items, desserts, beverages, and sides are on the menu.
