Tallgrass Creek's Hummingbird Square Welcomes its First Resident
Judy Higginbotham, Formerly of Kansas City, Mo, is an Avid Golfer

OVERLAND PARK, KS (November 15, 2017) -- Judy Higginbotham has a special recognition no one else can claim. She is the first person to move to Hummingbird Square, Tallgrass Creek's new residence building, which recently began welcoming residents.
"I didn't feel alone at all that first day as the staff went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed," says Judy.
Judy moved from a 6,000-square-foot house in a Kansas City, MO, neighborhood where she lived for 18 years.

"I thought it would be tough to leave, but everything just fell into place," says Judy, who golfs every week.
It all started about a year and a half ago as Judy was driving up busy Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park and saw a sign for Tallgrass Creek.

"I was curious, so I turned in and went up to the security gate," says Judy.
That impromptu turn was the first step in Judy's ultimate decision to downsize and simplify her life at Tallgrass Creek. She met with Sales Counselor Elaine Bahr, who told her about Hummingbird Square, which at the time was still under construction.
"I was interested, but hadn't looked around at all," says Judy. "As I learned more, the idea of moving to a brand new place sounded appealing."
Over the next few months, Judy looked at other retirement communities and eventually joined Tallgrass Creek's priority list. From artist renderings, she selected a large corner apartment home with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
"It was a leap of faith," says Judy. "But as it turns out, a really good decision."
Judy is now joined by many new neighbors at Hummingbird Square, which connects via indoor, climate-controlled walkways to Bluebird Crossing, one of the original residence buildings at Tallgrass Creek.
As Hummingbird Square neighbors make themselves at home, Goldfinch Lane, Tallgrass Creek's fifth residence building, is now under construction. The four-story residence building is slated to open in fall 2018.
Like Judy, many future residents of Goldfinch Lane are taking advantage of the fact that their pending move is about a year away.
"I had time to sell my home and plan," says Judy. "Now that I'm here, it's so much more than I expected. The staff and residents have been so welcoming, and I'm enjoying this new, more relaxed lifestyle."
