This Week in Sedgwick County - June 16, 2021

Board of County Commissioners

  • Commissioners voted to receive and file the 2020 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
  • Commissioners accepted a donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from Sam’s Club for Covid-19 Response.
  • Commissioners unanimously voted to approve two grant submissions:
    • A $230,145 grant for the DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (CEBR) for the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center.
    • A $185,949 grant for two low floor ramp accessible vehicles and an in-vehicle security camera system for the Sedgwick County Department on Aging.
  • In an off agenda item, commissioners voted to unanimously approve to add additional funding up to $390,000 to the fleet Allocation Budget. Commissioners also approved the Sheriff’s Office to purchase the desired aircraft, and if unavailable the authorization to purchase an alternative aircraft.
  • Commissioners approved the proposed adoption of the 2019 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators (ASME A17.1).
  • Commissioners voted to receive and file a report by Lindsay Poe Rousseau, Chief Financial Officer, on the COVID-19 Fiscal Response.

  • Sedgwick County is holding two Household Hazardous Waste Remote Collection sites in June. Residents who attend the collection are asked to remain in their vehicle while staff unloads material.     • Spirit Aerosystems, Saturday, June 19, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (please use the MacArthur Street entrance).
    • 4830 S. Broadway, Saturday, June 26, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (this is just West of the closed K-Mart. Please enter from 47th St. S. and exit onto Broadway).
