4 Killed When Plane Crashes Into Trees In Kentucky: Police

A portion of the plane became lodged in the fork of a tree and the rest of it was reportedly on the ground.

FOUNTAIN RUN, KY — Four people were killed in a plane crash in Kentucky on Sunday when a single-engine plane struck multiple trees in a wooded area in Barren County, police said.

Three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and a fourth victim was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. On Monday, police identified the victims as all Kentucky residents, which included a father and his 15-year-old son.

The victims were identified as Scott T. Foster, 41, Kyle P. Stewart, 41, Noah Foster, 15 and Quinton D. Whitaker, 40.

A joint investigation is being conducted by the Kentucky State Police and the FAA.

The plane reportedly went through two or three tree tops before striking a larger tree, The Bowling Green Daily News reported. A portion of the plane became lodged in the fork of the larger tree and the rest of the aircraft was on the ground.

The debris field is about 200 to 250 feet long, according to the news report.
