Kentucky Deputy Charged With Lying About Being Shot In Bulletproof Vest
Investigators suspect Franklin Brown actually shot himself, but they don't know why, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported.

LONDON, KY — A Kentucky deputy who said he was shot by a motorcyclist during a traffic stop and was saved by his bulletproof vest is now jailed on charges he made it all up.
McCreary County Deputy Franklin Brown was arrested Thursday and taken to the Leslie County jail, Kentucky State Police said in a statement. He was charged with making a false report, official misconduct and evidence tampering.
Brown told officers in June that someone on a red motorcycle shot at him, striking his bulletproof vest and causing a minor injury, state police said. Investigators suspect Brown actually shot himself, but they don't know why, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported. Online jail records don't indicate whether Brown has an attorney.
