Kentucky Police Shoot Armed Man, Authorities Say

MAYFIELD, KY — A man was wounded in a shooting involving police officers in Mayfield, Kentucky, authorities said.

Officers from the Mayfield Police Department responded to a report early Friday of an armed man walking along a street, police said in a statement. Police found a man believed to be the subject in a yard and shortly afterward shots were fired, and the man was hit, police said.

Andrew R. Chamberlain, 23, of Hickory, was taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said. They did not immediately release the names or races of the officers.
