Kentucky Police Shoot Man Who Kept Hand Hidden: Cops

Police in Barbourville pursued a vehicle to a parking lot. A man exited the vehicle and approached officers with a hand behind his back.

BARBOURVILLE, KY — Police shot a man in Kentucky who approached officers and refused to show a hand he had behind his back, state troopers said.

Trooper Shane Jacobs in a release identified the suspect as Brandon Moses, 29, of Bledsoe. Moses was in serious condition Sunday at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, the statement said.

Police in Barbourville, 100 miles southeast of Lexington, on Saturday had pursued Moses' vehicle, which eventually pulled into a store parking lot, Jacobs said. After leaving the vehicle, Moses walked toward officers with one hand behind his back. The suspect refused a command to show both his hands and he allegedly threatened to kill the officers. Officer Adam Townsley then shot Moses. (For more Across Kentucky news, click here to sign up for real-time news alerts. If you have an iPhone, click here to get the free Patch iPhone app.)
