Bobby Petrino Out As Louisville Head Football Coach: Reports
Petrino was fired Sunday morning amid a 2-8 season. The team has dropped seven games in a row, including several blowout losses.

LOUISVILLE, KY — Louisville Cardinals head football coach Bobby Petrino has reportedly been fired, effective immediately. Petrino was fired Sunday morning amid a 2-8 season, media outlets reported. The team has lost seven games in a row and hasn't won a single game in the Atlantic Coast Conference this season. The Cardinals were also blown out five times this season, giving up at least 50 points in each contest.
The school announced Petrino had been dismissed in a statement from athletic director Vince Tyra, who said he "did not have the confidence" that Petrino would be able to turn things around next season. The new coach will be selected to restore the football program to "national prominence," Tyra said.
Petrino went 77-35 over two stints with Louisville. He is owed a $14.1 million buyout, ESPN reported, which he'll receive over the next few years.
