Climbing Kentucky Stairs for Clean Air

Training, team building and fundraising start today for a legendary and unique Louisville event, the Fight For Air Climb at PNC Tower. The American Lung Association in Kentucky announced that registration is now open for the event, set for Saturday, February 1.

The Fight For Air Climb, presented by Kindred Healthcare, invites individuals, families, groups of friends, corporate teams and first responders to race up the stairs of PNC Tower, a total of 38 floors, 768 steps. Money raised at the event funds research to find a cure for lung cancer and also supports local programs to help people who live with lung disease. The Lung Association offers practice climbs for registered participants starting on Saturday, November 2 at the Hyatt Downtown.

“The fall is the perfect time to start building your team, training and fundraising for the Fight For Air Climb. Stair climbing is a great way to stay active during the chilly Kentucky winters, but also provides a fun activity for families, team building for corporate teams and a fundraising activity for students,” said Deena Adams, the executive director of the Lung Association. “So far, we have received a tremendous amount of interest in this year’s event and expect this to be the largest Fight For Air Climb yet! We encourage the whole community to get involved by participating, volunteering or simply donating to this important cause.”

In Kentucky, more than 700,000 people suffer from lung disease, and this year alone, almost 5,000 residents will be diagnosed with lung cancer. The Fight For Air Climb raises awareness for lung disease, raises money for life-saving research, and funds critical local programing like educational programs to help local children manage their asthma and free programs to help locals quit smoking.
