Health Research Center Invests in Fight Against Lung Disease

Today, the American Lung Association in Kentucky announced that the Christina Lee Brown Envirome Institute is presenting sponsor for the Breath of Fresh Air Bash, Louisville’s premiere Halloween party, on October 26 at The Olmsted in Louisville.

This year, the event theme is “Regards to Broadway,” where the organization invites attendees to dress as their favorite Broadway character. The event offers chances to bid on exclusive items, like a “Dinner with the Spirits” at Stoneware & Company with Chef Bobby Benjamin, a bottle of Buffalo Trace 6th Millionth Barrel of bourbon, and much more.

“We look forward to a fun, yet impactful event, and this couldn’t happen without sponsors like the Christina Lee Brown Envirome Institute,” said Deena Adams, executive director for the Lung Association. “Here in Kentucky, we face health challenges such as high smoking rates, high lung cancer rates and more than 700,000 of our residents who suffer from lung disease. We are very thankful to them for supporting our mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.”

With Louisville as their urban laboratory, the Christina Lee Brown Envirome Institute investigates how the natural, social, and personal environments affects human health and chronic disease. Their research unites a multidisciplinary group of physicians, scientists, chemists, engineers, epidemiologists, economists, psychologists, statisticians, sociologists, and community members to turn scientific discovery into actionable knowledge that can help build healthier cities.

The Breath of Fresh Air Bash takes place on Saturday, October 26 at the Olmsted in Louisville. The evening includes a social hour and open bar, dancing and live music by “The Sensations,” a seated gourmet dinner, live auction, raffle, and a bourbon pull. Almost 90 cents of every dollar raised goes to the Lung Association’s programs and services, including research, advocacy and public health education.
