Jefferson County School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Jefferson County is August 16. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Jefferson County School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/16: First Day for Students

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/22: Middle and High School Grading Period Ends
• 9/23: College and Career Expo (7:00 p.m.)

October

• 10/3: Middle and High School Report Card Distribution
• 10/6: No School for Students (PD Day)
• 10/9: No School for Students (PD Day)
• 10/10: Parent-Teacher Conferences
• 10/17: Elementary Grading Period Ends
• 10/23: Elementary Report Card Distribution

November

• 11/3: Middle and High School Grading Period Ends
• 11/14: Middle and High School Report Card Distribution
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/19: Middle and High School Grading Period Ends, Elementary Grading Period Ends
• 12/20 - 1/1: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/2: No School for Students (PD Day)
• 1/10: Middle and High School Report Card Distribution
• 1/11: Elementary Report Card Distribution
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
