Kindred Healthcare Invests in Clean Air, Healthy Lungs

Leading national healthcare provider sponsors the Fight For Air Climb

Today, the American Lung Association in Kentucky announced that Kindred Healthcare signed on as the presenting sponsor for Fight For Air Climb at PNC Tower, happening on February 1 in Louisville.

The Fight For Air Climb invites individuals, families, groups of friends, corporate teams and first responders to race up the stairs of PNC Tower, a total of 38 floors, 768 steps.

“Through events like the Fight For Air Climb, we are able to fund our work to improve air quality, educate residents on lung health and help people who live with lung disease,” said Deena Adams, executive director for the Lung Association. “But we can’t do it alone. Our partnership with Kindred helps us provide vital support to the local community. From funding asthma education, to providing resources to those suffering from lung cancer, this support makes people’s lives better every day.”

Kindred Healthcare is a healthcare services company based in Louisville, Kentucky. The company has 34,500 employees providing healthcare services in 1,760 locations in 46 states, including 71 long-term acute care hospitals, 22 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, 11 sub-acute units, 95 inpatient rehabilitation units (hospital-based) and contract rehabilitation service businesses which served 1,561 non-affiliated sites of service.

In Kentucky, more than 700,000 people suffer from lung disease, and this year alone, almost 5,000 residents will be diagnosed with lung cancer. The Fight For Air Climb raises awareness for lung disease, raises money for life-saving research, and funds critical local programing like educational programs to help local children manage their asthma and free programs to help locals quit smoking.
