Louisville Mayor Initiates Termination Procedures Against LMPD Officer Brett Hankison

He directed media to direct questions about state law that precludes city officials from commenting further to Jefferson County Attorney.

Mayor Greg Fischer today announced that LMPD Chief Rob Schroeder is initiating termination procedures against Louisville Metro Police Officer Brett Hankison.

“Unfortunately, due to a provision in state law that I very much would like to see changed, both the Chief and I are precluded from talking about what brought us to this moment, or even the timing of this decision,” the Mayor said, citing KRS Chapter 67c point 326 (1) (f).

He directed media to direct any questions about the state law that precludes city officials from commenting further to Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell.
