Louisville's 3rd Annual 'Coat A Kid Drive' Nearing Holiday Finish
Louisville City Councilman David Yates invites the community to a special event to keep the drive's momentum high in the next few days.
Louisville, KY — There are just a few days left before the 3rd Annual Coat a Kid Drive wraps up the effort to make sure school children in Louisville Metro stay warm during this winter. Councilman David Yates (D-25) invites the community to a special event to keep the drive’s momentum high in the next few days.
“Working with the Shirley’s Way, during the next Queen of Hearts drawing on Monday, December 15th, a 55” Samsung Smart 4K TV will be raffled off as part of our campaign,” says Yates. “To enter, donate a new coat or make a cash donation to Shirley’s Way. The money donated will be used to purchase new coats for JCPS students in South and Southwest Louisville Metro.

The drawing is a massively successful charitable event that supports Shirley’s Way, a great local Valley Station non-profit that benefits families struggling to pay bills or pay for groceries when a family member is suffering from cancer.
Meanwhile, there is still time for anyone to drop off a new coat before December 19th. Partnering with the Councilman, Craig and Landreth Cars has offered to graciously accept donations at any of their six locations in Kentucky to ensure citizens and businesses have opportunities to easily donate, no matter where they reside.
The participating locations are:
- Dixie, 5357 Dixie Highway, 40216
- Hurstbourne, 1700 S. Hurstbourne Pkwy, 40220
- Fern Creek, 6203 Bardstown Road, 40291
- Shepherdsville, 970 KY-44, Shepherdsville, 40165
- St. Matthews, 4217 Shelbyville Road, 40207
- Crestwood, 6424 KY-146, Crestwood, 40014
The District 25 office is also willing to come by any home or business to pick up new coats to ensure children have warm clothing this winter.
“Last year, with the generous help of the people of our community, we were able to provide some 400 new coats to JCPS Students across our city,” says Yates. “The need is still great and this year we offer a fun way to help out. I am proud of our community’s previous generosity and I look forward to another successful event to help children in our area,”
