Metallica started its worldwide tour in 2018 and continues into 2019 with a stop on March 9 at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. As part of the tour, Metallica has shows in Ohio, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Indiana, and the finale in Michigan before moving on to Europe.

The band formed in 1981 in California after Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield met. According to a timeline of the band on Metallica's website, the first time the band appeared on stage was at Radio City in Anaheim, California on March 14, 1982.
