Papa John's Name Removed From Cardinals Stadium
The University of Louisville made the change this week amid more controversy for the pizza chain founder.

LOUISVILLE, KY — Last week, Papa John's founder John Schnatter resigned as chairman of the pizza chain's board after news broke that he used a racial slur during a May training call. He was also evicted from his office at Papa John's headquarters, and now, his name has been removed from the University of Louisville's Cardinals Stadium.
Once known as "Papa John's Cardinals Stadium" it will be renamed, the university announced. Two Louisville wide receivers asked for the name change after Schnatter admitted to using the slur, Sports Illustrated reported.

ESPN reporter Darren Rovell also said Schnatter — who owned the stadium naming rights, not Papa John's — was in favor of the change.

Schnatter told Louisville's WLKY he wasn't informed of the decision to rename the stadium until it was publicly announced, but the university said he was told via text, according to Yahoo Sports.
In a statement on Twitter, Cardinals head football coach Bobby Petrino said he was pleased with the decision.
