Sodexo at Nicholls State University donates over $2,000

Sodexo at Nicholls State University supports non-profits and contributes to the local and regional community.

Sodexo, dining services partner at Nicholls State University demonstrates that, despite a global pandemic, it is still possible to support non-profits and contribute to the local and regional community.

Nicholls Dining recently held two fundraisers: Cupcakes for a Cause and March Mini Madness.

Cupcakes for a Cause raised money for the Lafourche Council on Aging to provide aid for nutrition congregate meals, nutrition home delivered meals, homemaker services, transportation, and personal care for needy and elderly community members.

The dining team sold nearly 200 gourmet cupcakes out of The Grid, the campus convenience store located in the student union, raising $573.

The second fundraiser, March Mini Madness, was a battle on behalf of multiple non-profit organizations during which Sodexo partnered with Nicholls State University’s Greek Life.

For one week, during breakfast hours at Chick-fil-A, guests were able vote for their favorite fraternity or sorority. The organization with the most mentions won a portion of the breakfast sales for their supported charitable foundation.

Gamma Phi Beta won the battle between 11 campus organizations and raised a total of $1,434.37 for Girls on the Run, a non-profit organization that designs programming that strengthens third-eighth grade girls' social, emotional, and physical well-being.

"March Mini Madness was a great opportunity to help support our philanthropy,” said Eta Upsilon, public relations vice president for Gamma Phi Beta. “Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were not to be able to safely hold our annual spring Moonball fundraiser to support Girls on The Run so this was an ideal solution.”

Nicholls Dining plans to revisit these successful fundraising opportunities for the Fall semester.
