Emergency Debris Removal Beginning This Week In Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, La. — May 25, 2021 — Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is expediting emergency debris removal in the aftermath of last week’s flood event. Debris removal is scheduled to begin at residences this Thursday afternoon throughout the City of Baton Rouge and unincorporated areas of East Baton Rouge Parish.

“Our residents continue to show great resiliency in overcoming the many challenges they have faced in the past year. It’s only fitting their local government stands ready to assist in their time of need,” said Mayor Broome. “Debris removal will take place first in areas hardest hit by the flash flooding, where residents have already had time to move debris to the curb.”

Currently, an estimated 22,000 cubic yards of flood debris has been placed along roadways.

Residents are urged to complete an online Damage Assessment Survey at brla.gov/emergency or damage.la.gov. The deadline to complete the survey is Tuesday, June 1.
