Public Safety Initiative Partnership In Baton Rouge

The Office of Mayor-President Sharon Weston-Broome, the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) Capital Area Transit System (CATS) will hold a press conference at CATS Bus Terminal (2222 Florida St) on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 10:30 am, to recognize their collaborative Proactive Public Safety Initiative. This press conference is to announce a partnership between BRPD and CATS going a step further with the installation of BRPD’s Telephone Reporting Unit’s QR Code placards in CATS’ 150 shelters, buses, paratransit vehicles, and terminal, which will allow passengers and the community to reach an officer in the Real-Time Crime Center to report non-life-threatening emergencies.

CATS Management is a safety focus and feels it is necessary to provide an immediate connection to BRPD’s Real Time Crime Center to create a safer environment for our front-line staff, our passengers, and the community. Additional innovative measures we are working on will include connecting CATS facilities videos to police personnel in the Real-Time Crime Center.
