“As we look at the attack on the U.S. Capitol, we can and must continue to exercise
our right to speak out, to ‘peacefully’ stand up against injustice and to exercise
our right to vote for those who we feel will support the country we want it to be,”
said Dr. Ashraf Esmail, the director of the Center for Racial Justice.

The panel discussion, called “Who’s America?,” will feature three panelists: Mitch
Landrieu, founder and CEO of E Pluribus Unum and former mayor of New Orleans; Demelza
Baer, director of public policy for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under
the Law; and Oliver Thomas, host of WBOK-AM’s “The Good Morning Show” and Center for
Racial Justice advisory board member. The event will be hosted by Dr. Gary Clark,
chair of the School of Social Sciences and Barron Hilton endowed professor of political
science.
