Dillard University Names Attorney De'Jonique Carter As Pre-Law Advisor
While at Southern University Law Center, Carter earned the Cali Award in Legal Research and Law and Minorities.

NEW ORLEANS — Attorney De'Jonique Carter has been named the advisor at Dillard University's Pre-Law Program.

A native of New Orleans, Carter is a graduate of Southern University at New Orleans where she received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. After earning her undergraduate degree, Carter earned her Master of Social Work from Tulane University.
While working as a social worker, Carter worked in various capacities, including child
support, child protection, and women and infant services. In May 2020, Carter went
on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center, graduating in
the top 15 percent of her class.

"I am pleased to have De'Jonique join the Pre-Law program on a full-time basis,” Dr.
Yolanda Page, vice president for the Division of Academic Affairs shared in a statement.
“De'Jonique's familiarity with the program as our former success coach should benefit
her well as she assumes this role."
While at Southern University Law Center, Carter earned the Cali Award in Legal Research
and Law and Minorities for earning the highest GPA in the class. As a law student,
she clerked with Kean Miller and Brown Sims and served as an Access to Justice Fellow
with the Louisiana Bar Association. In 2019, Carter was featured on the American Bar
Association podcast regarding cultural competency as well as handling bias and developing
understanding. Carter was a recipient of the National Association of Women Judges,
Robin Rosche, Baton Rouge Bar Association and the Jessie N. Stone scholarships. Carter
is a proud graduate of Edna Karr High School and mother of one.
