Free Online Convention Provides Practical Benefits

NEW ORLEANS—Wednesday, August 19, 2020—As the 2020 convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses continues this weekend with a fifth online installment, millions around the globe will enjoy the free public discourse “Enjoy Riches Without Pain—How?” from the safety of their own homes. The Bible-based talk will offer practical advice for finding true joy despite life’s challenges and provide solid reasons to look to the future with confidence. Locally, more than 15 congregations in the New Orleans area will be watching the “Always Rejoice”! program alongside an expected worldwide audience in excess of 15 million.

Public discourses have long been an integral part of the Witnesses’ conventions. One New Orleans area resident, Willie Huguley, has attended the conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 40 years. He says, “I’m looking forward to learning from this year’s public discourse. It’s no secret that many people today are trying to seek more money and get ahead. Sadly, they expend themselves for something that is here today and gone tomorrow. I’m eager to learn how I can personally become rich and not have to experience any pain.”

“The public discourse will offer a practical message of hope that’s especially needed in these challenging times,” says James Gianopoulos, local spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses. “We invite everyone in the community to enjoy this noteworthy part of the online convention program from the comfort and safety of their own homes.”

Those interested in viewing the convention can access the program on jw.org, available under the “About Us - Conventions” tab. There is no charge or registration required. With the online program available in more than 500 languages, this may be the most-attended convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses to date.
