Billionaire David Rockefeller's Maine Estate Up For Sale For $19M

The Rockefeller family has vacationed on Mount Desert Island for generations. David was the son of philanthropist John D. Rockefeller Jr.

PORTLAND, ME — The Maine summer home of the late billionaire philanthropist David Rockefeller is on the market for $19 million and the proceeds are expected to go to charity.

Rockefeller was 101 when he died March 20 and his will gave his children first claim to the Seal Harbor estate. Several of them already own homes nearby, the Portland Press Herald reported.

Money from the sale of the estate will be used to help fulfill bequests in his will. He left $20 million to the Land and Garden Preserve of Mount Desert Island in Seal Harbor and $5 million to the Maine Coast Heritage Trust.
