Maine Snowmobiler Killed In Crash

Karen Pillman, of Wilmington, Massachusetts, was killed in a crash Saturday, according to the Maine Warden Service.

PARLIN POND TOWNSHIP, ME — A snowmobiler was killed Saturday in Parlin Pond Township, according to the Maine Warden Service. Karen Pillman, 45, of Wilmington, Massachusetts, veered off a trail and crashed into trees at about 5 p.m., authorities said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed likely contributed to the crash, according to the warden service. Pillman was wearing a helmet at the time of crash.

The crash happened as Pillman sped over Parlin Pond then crossed the Parlin Connector Trail, according to the warden service.

It was the ninth snowmobile fatality of the winter in Maine. The warden service said the melting snowpack has created snowmobile hazards like ice and exposed rocks and stumps.
