AUGUSTA, ME — An 82-year-old man who wandered from his Bristol home Tuesday night was rescued by authorities the following morning after he was found in a swamp. The Maine Warden Service said the man, who suffers from Alzheimer's, was not hurt.

Wardens said they launched a search at Tuesday at about 7:30 p.m. after the man's wife reported him missing. He was last seen at about 12:30 p.m. walking to Route 32. Game wardens, Bristol firefighters, and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, among other agencies, were involved in the search. The man was found safe Wednesday morning about a quarter-mile from Route 32 in a swampy area. He was evaluated for hypothermia and allowed to return home.

"This early morning rescue most certainly saved (the man's) life," the wardens service said in a statement.
